"May not the fresh stirring in men's minds develop knowledge that even the Greeks did not have?" from Lee McCann's Nostradamus : A Man Who Saw Through Time. It has been said by many, that as time goes on and technology advances, humanity and all of its intelligence and wisdom are fading into nothingness; the more technologically advanced we become, the dumber we get. This can be seen as a controversial issue, and I, frankly, like discussing these issues; I love a good debate.
Yes, it is clear that in certain parts of the world, education and the value of education is declining. It's obvious, and disappointing. Students using text language in essays? Who ever had the idea this was acceptable? Those students lack the value of education, and, frankly, common sense. But 'anywho', that is only a portion of the Earth's population. In other places, people are brilliant and advancing their minds and our technology. I think some people do not realize that we need strong, imaginative, and brilliant minds to create and develop the technology that is said to make us unintelligent. Everyday, millions of people are developing ideas and technologies that the wisest and most clever of people "back in the day" could have never even dreamed of.
So, even with today's technological advances, we are becoming more intelligent and less intelligent simultaneously . We have come to rely on our technology so much, that we have lost some basic skills, such as mental calculation and common sense. Who knows, maybe someone will come up with the technology to fix that. ;)
What do you think? I'd love to know your thoughts!
